Otis Peak (12,486') is a very visible peak in the Bear Lake area, protruding from the Continental Divide in a long easterly running ridge between Hallett Peak and Taylor Peak. It is flanked on the north by Chaos Canyon and on the south by Loch Vale. Andrews Glacier sits below its south side on the Continental Divide. The ridge running east from Otis Peak sports an interesting landmark, in some ways similar to the flat top on Longs Peak.
Otis Peak was named by Fredrick Chapin, who wrote a book, "Mountaineering in Colorado." He named it after his climbing partner (1880's), Edward O. Otis, a medical Doctor from Boston.#
